The definition of health and wellness is summarized as “taking care of you”. When you feel great on the inside, it shows up on the outside. This article will share 14 tips you can implement for 14 days that will have you feeling your best, looking spectacular, and brimming with excitement about your new attitude! Overhaul your overall health and wellness and enjoy the difference. Let’s get started: Day One: Beauty Begins Within – Being aware of what we think is a direct result of how we feel. Start with eliminating self-sabotaging, defeating thoughts about who you are and what you can do…You can do all things --- imagine yourself being who you want to be and then just be. True beauty comes from within and expresses itself in the outer world. So today, work it from the inside/out. Day Two: Sleeping Beauty Was Only Beautiful When She Got Enough Sleep! While it is not always possible to get a nap during the day, 10 minutes of quiet time, and I do mean quiet – is equal to a 1 hour nap. Quiet means no cell phones, texting, computer, watching TV, or anything. It means shutting down the mind. Tonight, make it a plan to go to bed earlier than usual. Prepare yourself for a good night’s sleep by turning off the TV, taking a warm bath and reading something positive, maybe the Bible or a motivational book. Day Three: The Vision of Beauty Begins with a Beautiful Vision – How you see yourself is how others will see you. Today visualize yourself as the beautiful person you truly are! What are you wearing? How are you feeling? What are you doing? See every detail of yourself as you want to feel, be, and do. This new attitude will have you glowing at that holiday bash. Day Four: Garbage In/Garbage Out – Today, avoid gossip rings, negative energy, and fill your day with compliments to others, kind words and a positive outlook. Smile more! Smiling instantly changes your disposition, no matter what’s going on. Take out the garbage in your mind – Today is trash day. Day Five: Our Bodies are Our Temples – Live in it Well What type of foods are you eating throughout the day? Today take inventory of what goes in your mouth. If you decide it is not healthy, then don’t eat it. If you become aware of eating as a result of stress, take a few minutes to decompress and then decide if you’re really hungry. If you are, then make it a healthy choice. Avoid flours and sugars for today. It may seem difficult at first, but as you become more aware, you will switch out those types of foods with healthier choices. Drink plenty of water today – more than the usual. You may struggle with this concept today, but you will be glad you did tomorrow. Day Six: Let the Pampering Begin! For the last five days we have been focused on working from the inside out, implementing tactics that will help our bodies to reflect health and wellness. Now, the fun part – pampering! Today, add an extra step in your hygienic routine…begin your show or bath with dry brushing starting at the ankles, continuing up the legs in a smooth circular motion. Dry brush you entire body before your shower or bath, ensuring that you brush upward toward the heart. This will open the pores, exfoliate dead skin cells, and stimulate blood circulation which helps the body to eliminate toxins. Your skin will be as soft as a baby’s bottom. Day Seven: Take a Deep-Sea Dive! No, not literally! Dip into an ocean of your own by discovering Spa therapies. There are marine botanical products that help hydrate and nourish the skin with glowing vitality. A nice sea soak in water as warm as you can stand it will infuse your body with trace minerals that nourish your skin and bring it back into balance. Day Eight: Don’t Lose Your Mind – Lose the Pounds! Now, you have this gorgeous dress hanging on the door of your closet – you are determined to get into; but, just in case that doesn’t work out, you leave that tags on it for easy return. Well, you have seven days left to lose those few stubborn pounds that would make fitting that dress a cinch. Before you go to drastic measures that are unhealthy…begin today with customized supplementation to ensure your body is receiving all the necessary nutrients to perform optimally. This will also increase the oxygen in your blood and increase your metabolism. Day Nine: Your Hair is Your Crowning Glory Our hair is our crowning glory. But what do we do when our crown prefers to be on the bathroom floor instead of our heads? Many women begin noticing thinning hair at about age 35 – more significantly when perms, weaves, and flat-ironing come into play. The thinning actually escalates as we age – it can be a very emotionally traumatic experience for women, since our hair is very much a part of who we are. Sure we can buy hair, but it’s so much to have our own. To help understand why thinning occurs, here is a snapshot explanation. Most women begin peri-menopause at age 35 and then into menopause. Women have a small amount of testosterone in their bodies, but when entering peri-menopause and menopause phases this testosterone level increases. Within testosterone is another hormone call DHT, short for Dihydrotestosterone. This DHT gets into the bloodstream and makes it way to the scalp attaching to the hair follicle and suffocating it; resulting in thinning hair. The only way to prevent this from happening is to block the hair from DHT. There are holistic products available on the market that will help prevent thinning hair. Take measures to keep your hair moisturized and conditioned regularly. Day Ten: Don’t Show Your Age As you probably are aware, your skin follows a biological timeline, by decades of life. During your 20-30s the first wrinkles start to appear and your skin becomes less resistant as elasticity declines and gravity begins to take hold. In your 40-50s, repetitive movements form the first permanent wrinkles as genetics, gravity, and a decrease in collagen and elastin cause your skin muscle to sag. Many are fighting it with a little nip/tuck – but for those who want to do it without a knife, you can arm yourselves with a complete arsenal of revolutionary anti-aging products. Day Eleven: Make-up Should Not Make You Up There is nothing worse than looking made up with make up. Make up should enhance your natural beauty and accentuate your best features. Colors worn should be complimentary to your skin tone and not stand out on their own. Day Twelve: Pandora’s Box of Beauty It is all starting to come together. You look into the mirror and see a noticeable difference. You also notice you have an emerging new attitude about life and you place in it. You feel energized and ready to live with a new agenda. You have opened Pandora’s Box of Beauty with YOU! All the wonderfulness you knew was there is now coming to the surface. Your body is changing into what you want to see, you perspective is changing, and you look absolutely marvelous on your way to fabulous. Keep implementing the previous day’s tactics and continue on your journey – we are almost there! Day Thirteen: Lucky #13 It’s time to take inventory – How are you feeling? What have you been eating? Are you getting enough rest? Are you taking enough quiet time for yourself? Are you using the ideas you’ve been given? Are you seeing results? Taking a period self-inventory of your habits can help you to reshape, literally, your mind and your body. It is important to not fall into the trap of living by default, but rather deliberately. Day Fourteen: Health and Wellness Unveiled Finally, you look in the mirror and see a noticeable glow to your skin. Your hair is shiny and healthy; your attitude is bright and illuminating and you feel more energized. You have achieved the attitude of health and wellness and now want to operate accordingly.
